Service
3D photogrammetry by drone: roofs, façades and large sites
3D photogrammetry from a drone captures roofs, terrain, façades and large sites from above. We deliver orthomosaics, meshes and point clouds, so your team works from real site data instead of estimates.
What drone photogrammetry is
Drone photogrammetry is 3D photogrammetry from the air. A drone flies the site and takes overlapping photos. Software matches the photos and calculates where every surface sits, which gives you a 3D record of the site as it stands today.
The record comes in three forms. An orthomosaic is one flat, to-scale aerial image stitched from the photos. A mesh is a 3D surface model. A point cloud is a dense set of measured points in 3D space. Together they give your team the roof, the ground and the surroundings in one place.
When you need aerial capture
Order drone photogrammetry services when the answer is above your head or spread across a large site. Typical reasons:
- Roofs that need a current record before renovation, repair or equipment planning.
- Terrain, where levels and slopes across a site matter to the design.
- Façades that are hard to reach from the ground and need full-height coverage.
- Large sites that are too big to cover on foot.
- Site context for design review, so architects see the building and its surroundings together.

How a drone photogrammetry project works
Quote and scope
Send the address and what you need from the data. Within one business day we reply with the method, the schedule and a fixed price.
Flight and capture
We plan the flight around the roofs, façades or ground you need covered, then fly the site and take overlapping photos. Where a project needs it, we add a ground scan.
Processing
The photos are processed into an orthomosaic, a mesh and a point cloud. Processing time depends on the size of the site and is stated in your quote.
Delivery
You receive the files in the formats above. Need the inside of the building too? See our 3D laser scanning survey.
Accuracy and specs
Aerial data is only as good as the control behind it. We measure accuracy against a total-station control network and report it per project, so it is measured, not assumed.
- Instruments: drone photogrammetry, terrestrial laser scanner (Leica RTC360) and total-station control
- Accuracy: measured against a total-station control network, reported per project
- Laser scan accuracy: registered to 2–6 mm (ground scans)
- Mesh formats: OBJ, FBX, STL, GLB
- Point cloud formats: E57, RCP, RCS, LAS
Who it’s for
Architects, general contractors, developers and facility managers order aerial capture when a site is too high, too large or too spread out to measure from the ground. Common uses by industry:
- 3D laser scanning for construction: roof and façade conditions, terrain and site context before design starts, alongside the ground scan.
- Building scanning for real estate: exterior and roof records, and site context, for buildings across a portfolio.

Ask a questionWhat is 3D photogrammetry?
Photogrammetry builds a 3D model from overlapping photos. A drone photographs a roof, façade or site from above, and software turns the photos into an orthomosaic, a mesh and a point cloud.
Do I need a laser scan as well?
It depends on the deliverable. Drone photogrammetry covers roofs, terrain, façades and large sites from above. A laser scan covers interiors and structure on the ground, registered to 2–6 mm. We recommend the method for your project when we scope the quote, and add aerial capture where a site needs it.
How accurate is drone photogrammetry?
Accuracy depends on the site and the deliverable. We measure it against a total-station control network and report it per project, so it is measured, not assumed. The 2–6 mm figure on this site describes registered laser scans, not aerial data.
What file formats do you deliver?
Point clouds come as E57, RCP, RCS or LAS. Drawings come as DWG, DXF or PDF, BIM models as RVT, IFC or NWD, and meshes as OBJ, FBX, STL or GLB. Imagery comes as a 360° panorama or an orthomosaic, and digital twins are web-hosted and measurable. Tell us what your team opens when you request a quote.
How much does drone photogrammetry cost?
Every project is fixed-price and set on scope: the size of the site, access and the deliverables you need. Send the address and what you need, and we reply within one business day with a method, a schedule and a fixed price.
